You can surely find help in this guide if you want to build up your confidence. Written in 1913, there are biblical quotes, there's a colloquial (now racially inappropriate) reference to cactus, a bank robbery, and multiple deaths - any one of which may offend the concerned reader; but there's not a word misplaced.
